PAPA has its roots in the early decades of the 1900s. On June 24, 1933, the first family productions received awards from the Ambulante Chair of Agriculture of Naples, however until 1960 the production had more a meaning of representation than of economic value.

In 1988 the turning point: Gennaro Papa senses that Falerno wine can return to fame. Initially he differentiates the company’s crops also with: peach, apple, apricot, olive, then from 1995 in the darkest period of Falerno availing himself of the collaboration of his son Antonio and an external oenologist he begins to grow mainly vineyards, giving more space to the native ones and thus starting a research process on century-old vineyards, conducting severe agronomic practices to bring them back to life. In 2002 the Umbrian oenologist Maurilio Chioccia arrives in the company, the vineyards go from 2 to 6 hectares, a qualitative turning point begins aimed even more at the defense of the native cultivars and the ungrafted vineyards, also bringing to light terraced vineyards on the slopes of the southern side of Monte Massico.

Today the company manages about 15 hectares of these 9 vineyards, the rest of arable land, olive groves and orchards. The vineyards are all located on the slopes of the southern side of Mount Massico, many are nestled on delicate hill ridges or in large terraces. All with a view towards the Campania plain at an altitude ranging between 150 and 350 meters above sea level.

Today about 7 hectares are conducted, located on the slopes of the southern slope of Mount Massico, many of them lying on delicate hill ridges or in large terraces facing the Campana plain, between 100 and 300 meters above sea level.
